Haryana has a history dating back to the Vedic age but became a 
full-fledged State only in November 1966 after Punjab was reorganised. 
Though agriculture is the mainstay of nearly 65% population in Haryana, 
it also houses major manufacturing units, BPO’s, industrial units and 
various factories of iron, metals, textile & leather, thus providing
 the best possible jobs to the skilled personnel. The IT Policy 
formulated by the government of Haryana provides for several incentives 
for IT and ITES industry in the state. The objective of this policy is 
to promote blending of Nano Technology, Bio Technology, Mobile Computing
 and Robotics with information technology, which in turn would create, 
jobs to the region. Besides the large industrial bases handling 
production of cars to scientific instruments and the handloom sector, 
Haryana is also known for the number of central govt and state govt 
establishments in the state offering job opportunities to millions of 
the residents of the state and beyond.
Though Gurgaon and Chandigarh are the major hubs for the 
career-oriented professionals, the govt. offices are spread out far and 
wide throughout the length and breadth of the state. A number of public 
sector undertakings present in the state also cater for the career 
growth of many. The State Network Management Centre, District Network 
Management Centre (DNMC) Block Network Management Centre (BNMC) has been
 operational with its SWAN vertical connectivity. Through its 
e-governance road map, the govt has set up e-Disha Ekal Sewa Kendra, 
providing jobs at the common service centres both at the rural and urban
 localities.The public sector organisations providing a good career 
growth are the Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology, Indian 
Institute of Management (IIM) Rohtak, National Brain Research Centre 
(NBRC), National Dairy Research Institute – NDRI, Haryana Financial 
Corporation, HUDA, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), faridababd and
 its Petroleum Hub at panipat. Besides there are a number of Irrigation 
projects under the central and state Govt. underway which again provide a
 lucarative career opportunity for the young. To name a few, there is 
the Hathni Kund barrage, Dadupur-Shahbad Nalvi Canal, Kaushalaya dam, 
Dangrana dam, Dewanwala dam and Chhamla dam.
The UPSC and Haryana Public Service Commission, lists the number of 
vacancies available in various central govt. and state govt 
establishments respectively in the state. The recruitments to the 
Railways are done through the RRB. For those interested in taking up 
academics as their profession, a number of universities and affiliated
