Rajasthan records highest-ever voter turnout at 74.38% in assembly
elections 2018 according to the Election Commission of India (EC). This
is nearly an 8% increase from the 2008 assembly elections where 66.49%
voters exercised their franchise. “The polling on Sunday crossed the earlier record of 67.18% in the 2003 assembly elections,”
Sudhir Tripathy, deputy election commissioner, told reporters. No major
incidents of violence were reported during polling in the state on
Sunday, Tripathy said. Polling on Sunday took place for 199 out of the
200 constituencies in Rajasthan. Churu legislative assembly seat could
not go to polls as the candidate fielded from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)
had died.
